Daniel Craig Cries to Adele

Any time Adele hits her high notes, there's no denying the girl has pipes. Not even James Bond himself can hold it together when Adele shows her chops. Daniel Craig, the star of the new James Bond film " Skyfall ," said he got emotional when he heard Adele's voice in the theme song for the flick. "I cried," Craig told Yahoo! Movies . "From the opening bars I knew immediately, then the voice kicked in and it was exactly what I'd wanted from the beginning. It just got better and better because it fitted the movie. In fact the more of the movie we made, the more it fitted it." The singer was tight-lipped about whether she'd be belting the film's theme. Director Sam Mendes sent Adele an early copy of the script to help her compose the song. "She came in very early before we started shooting and her main concern was 'I write songs about myself, how can I make a Bond song? My answer was 'just write a personal song'! Carly Sim...

Swedish House Mafia Holds Off Adele, Snags First U.K. No. 1 Single

Adele 's "Skyfall" (XL Recordings) missed out on the U.K. No. 1 position by a substantial 43,000 units when the Official Charts Company confirmed the end-of-week results on Sunday (14), overtaken by Swedish House Mafia 's "Don't You Worry Child" (Virgin/EMI), featuring John Martin. Mumford & Sons ' "Babel" album (Universal Island) returned to the No. 1 spot where it arrived two weeks ago, moving ahead of Ellie Goulding 's "Halcyon" (Polydor/Universal) in a new top ten with no fewer than three albums featuring Electric Light Orchestra co-founder Jeff Lynne. Adele Bond Top Spot Dreams Dashed

Adele's Bond theme song has just missed out on the top spot of the official UK singles chart after Swedish House Mafia pipped her to the post. The dance group's offering, Don't Worry Child, featuring John Martin, remained steadfast in its battle for number one with Skyfall. The Swede's armour saw them through the fight and the dance group remained victorious - outshining Adele who did not come off too badly in second place. Other movers and shakers in the chart were Rihanna with Diamonds, who was last week's number one - but was forced to accept a respectable new position of fourth place. And the global phenomenon Gangnam Style by Psy held on to third place. Meanwhile, in the album chart, folk four-piece Mumford & Sons regained the top spot with Babel, knocking Muse's The 2nd Law out of the number one position. It appears Mumford & Sons are enjoying a revival with their debut album Sigh No More, which was released over three years ago, keeping a top 20 p...

Adele wants to raise baby out of London

Adele is planning to move out of London so she and her boyfriend Simon Konecki can raise their baby away from the pressures of fame. The singer is due to give birth to her first baby in the coming weeks and she and boyfriend Simon Konecki are renovating a home in Hove, Southern England, where they can be left in peace. Adele was raised in Tottenham, north London, but she doesn't want to stay in the UK capital with her child because it is too much like a 'goldfish bowl' because of her fame. A source told People magazine: 'Neither she nor Simon want to bring up the baby in London. She says it's like a goldfish bowl. They want to keep a low profile when the baby is born. I think we'll see even less of her then. 'Despite her millions, she is going to give the baby the most important thing of all, love. The baby is very special to have such a special lady as its mother.' Adele just released the theme song to the new James Bond film 'Skyfall' but she h...

This week finds some major new action on the album charts, but only one new entry in the Top 10 singles. On we go: Were Still Getting Adele. Reflecting the immediacy of digital single sales, this week three songs rocket into the Hot 100 all the way in the Top 10 only the second time that has happened in Billboard s 54 years of publishing charts. The surprising thing? Adeles the lowest-ranked of the three. Her Bond theme Skyfall is her biggest debut to date, though it only comes in at No. 8. It could challenge One Might Night and Gangnam Style for the throne next week. But meanwhile, entering above her at No. 3 are the prepubescent lads of One Direction, who repurpo...

US award for chart topper Adele

Adele has been honoured for her airplay success in the US after her hit Rolling In The Deep was one of the most frequently played songs on radio. The track notched up 1.35 million performances in one six month period last year and to date has been broadcast more than two million times. It was the most played song in the US in 2011 among artists registered with royalties body Broadcast Music Inc (BMI). Other artists were recognised for reaching new milestones for their work at the annual BMI London Awards staged at the Dorchester Hotel. Mark Hollis, the frontman of Talk Talk, was honoured for his song It's My Life receiving three million plays since it was first recorded and released in 1984. The track went on to greater success when it was covered by US band No Doubt, who accounted for much of the airplay. Mark, whose band still has huge cult appeal, has rarely made any public appearances since leaving the music business following his only solo album in 1998. Dwina Gibb, the widow ...

New Skyfall trailer glows with Adeles theme VIDEO

The verdict is in: Adeles James Bond theme is a hit. When it premiered last week, my colleague Adam B. Vary declared it does not disappoint, and it seems people agree. Its currently the #1 song on iTunes not only in the United States but in many places all over the world . Its no wonder, then, that it is featured in the newest Skyfall trailer. The clip is silent save for Adeles soulful voice as we once again see Daniel Craigs Bond getting shot from atop a train. Were also treated to quick actions shots of explosions, chases, a steamy shower scene and more 007 fun. Many of the quick cuts are recycled from the previous trailer, but Adeles song certainly gives them a new feeling. Check it all out below: Skyfall opens in the U.S. on Nov. 9. Adele's Bond theme tops iTunes

Adele's theme for the new James Bond film Skyfall has shot to the top of the iTunes chart within hours of its release. The track is hotly tipped to become the first 007 theme to make it to number one in the official chart when it is announced on Sunday. Adele's song, which shares its title with the movie, was given its full premiere on her website at 0.07am on Friday and made available to download. Fans had been given a taster earlier in the week when it was leaked online, then swiftly removed. The song is her first new material since her career exploded following the success of second album 21 early last year. Previous Bond theme artists have all failed to take their songs to the top of the charts, including Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Tom Jones and Madonna, while Duran Duran made it to just number two in 1985 with A View To A Kill. Bookmaker William Hill has given a figure of 1/2 that Adele will top the charts and retailer HMV is expecting huge sales. The surge of sales is no gua...

Adele's 'Skyfall' Premieres: Our First Impressions

Image
We're shaken and stirred Adele's James Bond theme, "Skyfall," fell from the sky yesterday, carrying with it the hype, or at least the hope, that it would be the Greatest James Bond Theme Ever. Did it succeed? Eh. Here, five SPIN staffers toss around their earliest opinions on the track. Christopher R. Weingarten: I don't mind that they keep recycling that John Barry theme (I'm a sucker for tradition) but if you're gonna be retromanical, at least update it so it doesn't sound like Tina Turner's 1995 Bond Theme trying to be Shirley Bassey's 1964 Bond Theme. I mean, if there was ever a moment for Lana Del Rey to make her mark, this was it, right? Plus, it's got an uncomfortable bombast that's basically "Yesterday" plus "Dream On," which was corny when Eminem was ripping it off 10 years ago. It's the Michael Bay version of a Bond theme, and I'm half expecting a Transformer to stomp in the casino and ask for an ...

Adele's 'Skyfall' Bond theme released online

Image
Danny Moloshok / Reuters file By Seth Abramovitch , The Hollywood Reporter After snippets had begun to surface online , "Skyfall," Adele's title song for the new James Bond film of the same name, has been unleashed in its entirety. The single was officially scheduled for a premiere at 7:07 p.m. ET -- or 0:07 a.m. in the U.K. -- but a French radio station has jumped the gun, so to speak, and posted "Skyfall" earlier today. The version posted to the singer's YouTube channel , below, features an animation based on the the song's cover art, and incorporates some of the song's lyrics. "Skyfall" instantly feels like a Bond theme, with the singer's sultry voice set against a minor chord progression. Done in big, orchestral style, the mood -- like the singer -- is all 1960s throwback, back when Bond themes like "Goldfinger" were smooth, seductive and larger than life. The lyrics, too, offer the classic Bond vibe -- apocalyptically dan...

Adele's 'Skyfall' Theme Leaks Before 0:07 Release

Adele 's sweeping, theatrical and moody theme for "Skyfall" has leaked Thursday (October 4), ahead of its official Friday release. Adele's vocals are dangerous and sexy, as the orchestra peaks and swells behind her. The song certainly has a classic, hazy Bond vibe to it, as the diva proclaims, "This is the end/ Hold your breath and count to 10/ Feel the earth move and then/ Feel my heart burst again." The experience will leave the listener more stirred than shaken as every Adele's voice glides over deep cellos and a haunting choir. Much like the famed spy, Adele's Bond Girl is a pretty mysterious creature. She sings, "Skyfall is where we start/ A thousand miles and both apart/ When worlds collide and things are dark/ You may have my number/ You can take my name/ But you'll never have my heart." As the song reaches its end, Adele's voice climbs and soars over the wall of sound. And then, the music drops out in a big jazzy fashion w...

Adele Skyfall theme pleasing critics, teasing Bond fans (VIDEO)

Adeles newest song for the James Bond flick Skyfall is pleasing music critics for her apparent homage to the classic recordings of the super spy's past. A 90-second snippet of the theme song leaked online generated plenty of positive reviews, with The Daily Telegraph calling it a Bond song that actually stirs the heart. Adele will debut the song on Friday morning at 7 am British time (007, get it?) on her website . You can preorder the song on iTunes ahead of the launch. Movie promoters have dubbed Friday as James Bond Day since it also marks the 50th anniversary of the first film, Dr. No. More from GlobalPost: Daniel Craigs swim trunks from Casino Royale part of Bond auction As for the song itself, fans might say it sounds more like Shirley Basseys standard Goldfinger rather than recent lukewarm efforts from Madonna (Die Another Day), Chris Cornell (You Know My Name) or the Jack White-Alicia Keys combo (Another Way to Die). Adele said in a prepared statement that shes glad she ac...
