A group representing the record labels of Adele , the Arctic Monkeys and The xx has reached a $1.6m (1.09m) settlement with US radio giant Sirius over a copyright infringement row. Global independent rights agency Merlin lodged a class action lawsuit against Sirius in relation to the firm's Stiletto range and other similar recording devices, after claims were settled with the four major record labels in 2007 and 2008. Merlin separately settled with XM Satellite Radio in April last year over the Pioneer Inno recordable radio receiver and other similar recording devices. All indie labels that had their music transmitted by Sirius Satellite Radio between November 1, 2005 and August 26, 2011 are expected to benefit from the $1.6m settlement. Me...

Adele's '21' heartbreaker revealed?

The mystery man who inspired Adele's album of heartbreak was reportedly photographer Alex Sturrock. The 'Someone Like You' singer penned album '21' about her devastating split with an unnamed man - who she has so far refused to identify. But according to a new report, her lost love was non other than the 31-year-old snapper who she is believed to have dated between the summer of 2008 and spring 2009. A source said: 'It was an intense period for them. They met through mutual friends and hit it off straight away. He shot her a few times and that was just it. 'They spent all their time together - and when they weren't together they would ring each other constantly.' Adele, 23, is said to have employed him as the official photographer on her US tour, where they shared hotel rooms. The insider said: 'He's a very normal guy and they'd laugh a lot together, eat junk food and ignore the fact that her career was about to go stratospheric. 'Ade...

Adele gets Chanel bags in apology

There are so many ways to say you're sorry - one of those ways being, well, just saying you're sorry. Karl Lagerfeld did as much in February. After calling pop star Adele "a little too fat" in the pages of U.K. Metro, the Chanel creative director wasted little time sending an official mea culpa to the paper. But talk, and newsprint, is cheap. A Chanel bag is worth substantially more. So, according to U.K. news-paper the Sun, Lagerfeld has sent a collection of purses to Adele, hoping to repair his reputation with so much quilted leather. "He told his team to send Adele the best the fashion house has to offer after hearing she collected bags," a snitch told the Sun. "He said he really wanted to make it up to her so they could maybe work together in the future." And on that point, the source shared a bit of a scoop: "He could see her fronting a campaign for Chanel Mademoiselle bags when the contract with Blake Lively ends." If Adele has, ind...

When EW interviewed Adele last spring in the garden of her hotel in Munich, the British singer-songwriter admitted she hadnt thought her recently released second album, 21 , would sell many copies in America. I was saying, I dont think this record is going to do anything, the chanteuse recalled. I cant feel the buzz in America. What no one knew then, of course, was that 21 had only just started its spectacular run on the charts. Over the past year, the album has continued to selland sell. And sell . 21 has now shifted more than 19 million copies around the world a figure which seems doubly remarkable given the ailing record industry, and triply so when you remember Adele wasnt able to promote the album for many months due to a vocal cord hemorrhage and subsequent operation. The cover story of Entertainment Weekly s Special Music Issue details how 21 became such a blockbuster, and the ways in which that success has affected so many aspects of the music industry, from the songs you h...

Adele cradles the six awards she won at the 54th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 12, 2012. UPI/Jayne Kamin-Oncea License photo LONDON, April 3 (UPI) -- British recording star Adele says she will release one new song soon, but a follow-up to her blockbuster album "21" probably won't be out for another two years. "If I didn't write my own songs, I'd be out next week with a new album," the BBC reported she told the French radio station NRJ. "I have to take time and live a little bit. There were a good two years between my first and second albums, so it'll be the same this time." The singer offered no details about the song she plans to release this year but the BBC said it likely will be the theme song to the next James Bond flick, "Skyfall." Adele, who won six Grammy Awards this year, said she is not concerned about her next effort matching the success of "21," which has sold more tha...
