Adele: 'I'm friends with ex-boyfriend who inspired Album 21'
Adele – Rolling in the Deep from the Album 21
Adele is a powerhouse and the song Rolling in the Deep showcases her powerhouse voice perfectly. Rolling in the Deep is on the album 21 which was released in the UK in January 2011 and the USA in February 2011.
The 'Set Fire to the Rain' singer, who previously insisted that she could not stay in contact with a former lover, said that enough time has passed since the relationship ended for the pair to begin speaking again.
"We're becoming friends again. It's alright, I know what I'm doing. Enough time has gone by. Now with what's going on with the album around the world, it's important to be able to share it with him because it's marvellous what has happened," Adele said during a London show earlier this week.
"He changed my life, I can't deny that. The album helped me get over splitting up with my boyfriend. It helped me forgive and I hope that he has forgiven himself."
The Official Charts Company announced that Adele is the first living artist to achieve the feat of two top five hits in both the UK Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart simultaneously since The Beatles in 1964. 21 has spent eleven consecutive weeks at number one in the UK, the longest ever by a female solo artist on the UK Albums Chart, surpassing Madonna‘s nine weeks at number one in 1990 with her greatest hits compilation The Immaculate Collection.[13][20] Those records adding the one of “first album in U.K. chart history to sell 3 million copies in one calendar year”, permitted her to appear in the 2012 Guinness Book Of World Records.[21] In the US the album has spent a total of twelve weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 to date, the most weeks at number one since 2000. The album has also broken the record for the most UK digital downloads. As of May 2011 the singer was worth £6 million, tying her with Lily Allen and Duffy for 9th place on the list of the richest British and Irish music stars under age 30.
We will also see Adele on the October 2011 cover of UK Vogue:
“Our cover girl, Adele, has won over the world with her heartbreaking voice and her ability to seem as if she very much herself,” says Alexandra Shulman in her editor’s letter. “One of the interesting facts of celebrity is that we, the admirers, usually find some particular aspect of our favourite stars to focus on and that generally become ‘the point of them’. We like them to be a certain way, and often take a long time to accept any change. So Adele’s very normality, her down-to-earth determination not to compromise herself, has become as much a part of her USP as, for example, Madonna’s constant, deliberate reinvention.”
Adele previously credited the relationship with helping her become an adult and putting her on her current life path.
The 23-year-old has said that she would give up her career for her ex-boyfriend without hesitation if they could be reunited under the right circumstances.
