According to The Sun, the singer took the decision in order to prevent people from misusing her name on products.

"She doesn't want anyone exploiting her name by using it on products which may trick punters into thinking she's involved with it," said a source quoted by the newspaper.

Adele ! wants to avoid her name being used on unofficial items such as perfume and jewellery. The move makes it easier for the 24-year-old to take legal action against companies who use her name as a way of tempting fans to buy their products.

Beyonc and Jay-Z attempted to trademark the name of their daughter Blue Ivy in October. The power couple reportedly wanted to launch their own line of baby products, but their application was unsuccessful.
