Adele tops iTunes charts for 2011

Last week, Adele topped the British music charts for 2011 and now Adele has done the same in the United States. Adele has topped the iTunes album chart with her album, 21 but Adele also topped the US iTunes singles chart with her song, Rolling in the Deep. That is a lot for one year!

If that was not enough for Adele, The UK Press Association added, her album 21 was named the biggest-selling album of the century.

Business Week reported that Mumford and Sons also made a strong appearance on the charts. Mumford and Sons also had a quite a year for being new on the scene in 2011. Their album, Sigh No More came in second place overall on album sales for iTunes. Mumfords singles did not break into the top five on the singles charts though.

In third place on the album charts, Lil Waynes Tha Carter IV, followed by Jay-Z and Kanye West with their album Watch the Throne. In fifth place was Coldplay with their album, Mylo Xyloto.

LMFAOs Party Rock Anthem, was number two on the iTunes singles charts, followed by Katy Perrys, Firework, and then Bruno Mars Grenade.

iTunes picked Nicki Minaji as its breakthrough artist of the year and Foster the Peoples Pumped Up Kicks for song of the year. iTunes also named Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters of best album of the year, Business Week reported.
