Adele does not want to be famous
Music star Adele discussed the highs and lows of fame Thursday on the Today show.
"I was adopting an Ethiopian child thats not true. My house was haunted, that wasnt true. God, theres been so many (rumors)," she told Matt Lauer. "I dont want to be a celebrity I dont want to be in peoples faces, you know, constantly on covers of magazine that I havent even known Im on."
The Grammy winner is set to perform on the NBC special Adele Live in London which will be broadcast June 5. It will feature an interview as well as performances from her DVD Adele Live at the Royal Albert Hall.
She said she considered her performance at the Grammys her most elegant. It was her first stage appearance since she had vocal cord surgery.
Despite her fame, Adele says she can still go through Trafalgar Square without being recognized.
"I was a bit worried. I was in my pajamas. I was in color. Im always in black. I threw pumps on, this massive green coat and then little pink pumps. Nobody recognized me," she said. "A couple looked round but they were like, 'No, shes in color.' And what would she be doing walking through a packed Trafalgar Square on a Saturday?"
