Adele Makes History. Again

More than a year after Adele's 21 hit shelves, it's still hitting #1 -- and this week it just reclaimed the top spot on The Billboard chart, which means the sophomore album has led the U.S. sales chart for 24 non-consecutive weeks. This puts 21 in an elite club of eight other albums to ever accomplish this goal.

With this, Adele ties Prince and the Revolution's Purple Rain soundtrack. The five albums to have lasted longer include Harry Belafonte's Calypso, the South Pacific soundtrack and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (each with 31 weeks), Michael Jackson's Thriller (37 weeks) and the West Side Story soundtrack (54 weeks).

What's even more impressive is that since its release 68 weeks ago, 21 has never left the top 10 -- it's lowest ranking was number seven, which it "sank" to on the Dec. 10, 2011, chart.

Equally impressive is that 21, which was released on March 12, 2011, is currently the #1 selling album of 2012 with 3.52 million units. In total, 21's U.S. sales stand at 9.34 million, making it the 24th biggest seller in America since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

But here's what I want to know, who is still buying this thing? I mean, didn't everyone who wanted a copy of 21 snag it ages ago?
