Adele dominates list of Detroit's best-selling albums in 2011

Adele can add the Motor City to her list of conquered territories in 2011.

The British pop-soul star's album "21" was metro Detroit's top seller last year, according to data from Nielsen Soundscan.

Adele didn't just top the local sales race in 2011 -- she utterly dominated it. "21" moved 90,000 copies here, more than double the market's next-best seller, Michael Bubl's "Christmas."

Detroit's top 10 albums largely tracked the year-end national rankings released last week by Soundscan, with a couple of notable exceptions: "Hell: The Sequel" -- the Bad Meets Evil album featuring hometown rappers Eminem and Royce da 5' 9" -- clocked in at No. 8 in metro Detroit, well above its No. 30 national placing. Beyonc's album "4" also overperformed in Detroit, its No. 6 showing five spots above its national rank.

Country acts Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum, both in the national top 10, didn't make the cut here. Sales are tabulated from retail purchases and album downloads.
