Adele singing versus smoking?

Its three weeks in and our New Years resolutions arent going too well. Weve dropped to only going to the gym twice a week (by which we mean thinking about going twice a week) and despite turning the cushions over, a bum-shaped dent is already cemented in our sofa. Were not the only one finding it hard to kick our habits though - Adele has been spotted smoking again!

According to an eyewitness, Adele has been seen puffing away stateside with her new boyf Simon Konecki. "Adele and Simon had dinner at Bobby Rubino's in Pompano Beach in Florida, on January 1, the source tells Life & Style. Right after they were done, she walked out of the place and had a cigarette outside." Just over a week later, Adele arrived back in London with Simon and was spotted again, ciggy in hand.

The health risk

Adele was forced to cancel two tours in October and had to undergo laser surgery to remove polyps on her vocal cords. Before this operation, she released a statement saying, "I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever."

But what will this renewed smoking habit do to our fave songstress voice? Doctors have advised that smoking (particularly after surgery), "reduces the body's ability to heal and causes irritation. The risk of infection is enhanced. Smoking is a deterrent. Especially for women, it lowers their voices and makes it rougher."

Adele would rather risk her voice!

Eek! That doesnt sound too good. Adele has made her thoughts on the matter pretty clear in the past though, saying, "I gave up smoking for two months! . It was f***ing grim. I had laryngitis about a week before the album came out and it was so frightening. I stopped smoking, drinking, eating or drinking citrus, spicy foods and caffeine. It was so f***ing boring."

"My voice was better when I wasn't smoking," she adds. "Within a week I noticed it had changed, but I'd rather my voice be a bit s**t so I can have a f***ing laugh." We just hope she stays well enough to make her comeback appearance at this years BRIT Awards. If it's anything like last years, we better grab a blanket, because its going to be goose-bump city.

What do you think of Adele smoking again fair enough or a risky decision? How do you think her BRITs performance this year will compare to last years?
