Adele leads contenders for Ivor Novello Awards

Acclaimed British singer-songwriter Adele might be adding more trophies to her mantel soon, as the chart-topping artist was revealed on Tuesday as the lead nominee for the upcoming Ivor Novello Awards.
Adele earned four nominations for the Ivors, the prestigious U.K. honour celebrating the craft of songwriting and presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
Her bestselling 21 is nominated for best album and facing strong competition in the category from 50 Words for Snow by Kate Bush and Let England Shake by PJ Harvey.
Adele's songs also garnered a trio of nods: her smash hit Rolling in the Deep is a contender for best song and most performed work, a category that also sees her Someone Like You vying for the prize.
The Ivor nominations come after Adele's triumphs at the Grammy and Brit Awards, as well as her widespread recognition as 2011's top artist, despite time off for vocal cord surgery.
Other notable Ivor nominees include Take That, Florence + The Machine, Lana Del Re! y and Jo nny Greenwood.
Organizers will also award several career honours, including lifetime achievement, outstanding song collection, outstanding contribution to British music and songwriter of the year.
Winners of the 57th Ivor Novello Awards will be revealed at a ceremony in London on May 17. Past Ivor recipients have included Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney, Radiohead, Annie Lennox and Lily Allen.
